Oppss! jangan panic o.O Nama saja 'jahat', tapi sedap! Devil's Curry is a Portugese traditional dish. Obtains its name as a result of the spiciness of the dish. Devil's Curry (also known as Curry Debal ) adalah berbeza dengan kari/gulai yang lain kerana tidak menggunakan santan. Hanya sedikit air digunakan dan buah keras berperanan sebagai ajen pemekat dan memberi rasa lemak. Kuahnya berstruktur pekat dan mempunyai gabungan rasa yang sangat unik di antara rasa pedas cili dan sedikit masam dari tomato & cuka. Selain itu, gabungan halia, serai, lengkuas dan kunyit menjadikan masakan sangat wangi dan berperisa hebat! WeeEeEEE~~~.^ aceh! ayat power betul... lol
First time makan devil curry was at my fav restaurant Mum's Place many years ago. Sebab Chris the owner is a portugese, so he serves delicious upscale portuges food at his own restaurant. Pada mulanya rasa pelik sket, yer lah sebab namapun curry, tp tak macam curry pung?! hahahaaa...daun karapole pun x dak, santan pun tak pakai..huhuuu
Sebab sedap, so blajarlah memasak sendiri and it turns out so angel! O:-) ahemm! ahemm!
The Ingredients:
Chicken [1/2]
2 onions or 6 shallots*
3 garlics*
20 dried chilies [soaked/boiled in hot water]*
1 inch shrimp paste*
1 inch fresh turmeric*
1cm ginger*
1cm galangal*
2 lemongrass*
2 candlenuts*
3 tomatoes
2 potatoes [optional]
Mustard seed [biji sawi - sauteed]
2tbsp vinegar
Salt & sugar
Water
Notes: * blended ingredients
Methods:
1) Heat oil and fry the blended ingredients till fragrant & almost dry
2) Add tomatoes and simmer until tomatoes are soft & tender.
